2007 League Results

Fun and excitement awaits all shot gunners here at the Detroit Sportsmen's Congress!

For your shooting enjoyment we provide five trap and five skeet fields.

All of our trap fields utilize a voice activated release system that allows shooting without waiting for a Trapper (puller).

There is usually a trap field that is set up for "Wobble" and another is set for "Doubles".

The DSC hosts different registered Skeet (NSSA) events throughout the year.

And there are a variety of winter and summer leagues that will satisfy the most enthusiastic shooter.

The DSC also has a 50 target Sporting Clays Course. This course will challenge even the most avid shotgun shooter.

For the newcomers to the sport, it is simulated shotgun hunting at its best. The targets are of various sizes and speeds to best simulate the different types of small game animals including rabbits, squirrels, ducks, geese, doves, quail, teal and woodcock.

Offered are registered N.S.C.A. events, winter and summer leagues and fun shoots.

Beginners Fatal Mistakes

Consistently successful shooters do not win by skill alone, but by the six inches between the ears. Some of the biggest errors you can make:

Remind yourself of these things when you go out to the line to shoot. Jot them down on a memo pad to rejuvenate your memory. Learn to dream of being a good trapshooter, for without the dream there can be no realization of success.

Practice with intelligence, not with feelings, thoughts and emotions; concentrate on hitting the target! Don't mindlessly shoot at hundreds of targets only to imbed the same mistakes over and over into your subconscious. Do this and you'll learn how to lose with a vengeance.

Be mentally engaged on each target as if only that target mattered. If you miss, don't dwell on it, move on to the next shot as if you had hit the last target. Learn to be patient with yourself. Patience develops self-disipline, so you'll be in better control of yourself. Relax and have a sense of enjoyment blended within your concentration.

If you become discouraged, you are not happy, and you most certainly will not crush targets as well as if you were enjoying yourself. Serious enjoyment is how I describe the mix. Being too serious develops a slump, whereas being overly joyful equals serious concentration lapses.

Patience re-adjusts attitude and enhances the odds of success as it changes your perspective. Professionals shoot with determined patience.
