LEAGUE SHOOTING TIMES: Thursdays 6:00 PM to Dusk; Fridays 11:00 to Noon; Sundays 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. 

RANGE CONTROL:     A Sporting Rifle League shooter will be the Range Officer During the league shooting hours.

NO OPEN SHOOTING WILL BE ALLOWED DURING THE SPORTING RIFLE LEAGUE SHOOTING PERIOD.

ALL SHOOTERS MUST SHOOT A LEAGUE TARGET EITHER FOR SCORE OR PRACTICE WHEN SHOOTING DURING LEAGUE HOURS AFTER JUNE 1.

COURSE OF FIRE:    There will be four courses of fire. Competitors may shoot any or all courses of fire. Competitors will fire a total of twenty (20) rounds for score per target (or as defined by the NRA Marksmanship Qualification programs). Time allowed will be 30 minutes. An unlimited number of sighting shots may be fired during this period.

Ø       DEER HUNTER SERIES:

Running Deer Targets (10) at 100 yards ~ 10 rounds standing and 10 rounds sitting or kneeling.

 

Ø       SPORTSMENS SERIES:

Running Deer Target (5) at 100 yards ~ 10 rounds standing and 10 rounds sitting or kneeling.

Fox target (1) at 100 yards - 10 rounds sitting and 10 rounds prone.

Woodchuck Target (1) at 100 yards ~ 10 rounds sitting and 10 rounds prone.

Running Deer Target (1) at 200 yards ~ 10 rounds sitting and 10 rounds prone.

Coyote Target (1) at 200 yards ~ 10 rounds sitting and 10 rounds prone.

Javelina Target (1) at 200 yards ~ 10 rounds sitting and 10 rounds prone.

Sportsmens series targets may be shot in any order competitor desires.

 

Ø       BENCH SHOOTING SERIES:

Competitor may elect to shoot either the Deer Hunter series or the Sportsmens series of targets.

Competitor may use elbow support only on bench or rifle forearm support (sandbags or other elevated rest) provided that the shooters hand is between the rifle and the support. No rear support (sandbags or other rest) of rifle is allowed.

All sporting rifle league competitors are asked to help setup target frames and hang targets for fellow competitors who require help getting frames or targets down range.

 

Ø       NRA MARKSMANSHIP QUALIFICATION:

Competitor may elect to shoot any of the following NRA Marksmanship Qualification programs; (Rifles, targets, minimum score per bull, and course of fire at 50 or 100-yards) as defined in the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program Guide.

4-Position Rifle Qualification;

Light Rifle Qualification;

American Rifleman Qualification;

(The above qualifications may be shot with a center fire rifle at 100 yards but will not qualify for NRA awards, awards will be issued by DSC rifle committee).

High Power - Sporting rifle course

(May be shot completely from the bench but will not qualify for NRA awards, awards will be issued by DSC rifle committee).

Qualification ratings do not have to be completed in any required time period.

Competitors who want the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program awards will have to order the required awards from the NRA at their own expense.

DSC Rifle Committee will issue DSC certificates for each qualification earned at the committee banquet.

 

LEAGUE REQUIREMENTS:   A total of 10 targets must be shot and scored for each series. Targets shot for one series can not be scored for any other series. Running Deer targets must be designated and marked for range and series being shot before being posted down range. An unlimited number of practice targets may be fired but TARGETS FIRED FOR RECORD must be designated in advance. The Range officer or Sporting Rifle Sub-Committee member on duty must score the target and enter the score in the record book. Target scorer must initial score in record book. It is the duty of the competitor to check the recorded score and initial that score in the record book. All targets fired for score must be new and unused.

All shooters must shoot a league target either for score or practice when shooting during league hours after June 1.

 

EQUIPMENT: Any rifle permitted under Michigan Deer Hunting Regulations may be used.

A hasty sling may be used in all shooting positions. No artificial support can be used at any time.

Sights may be iron or telescopic up to 9X for 100-yard targets.

No restrictions on telescopic sights for 200-yards targets.

The weight of the rifle with sling attached may not exceed 10 lbs.

Special shooting gloves and jackets may not be worn.

Jackets or vests and gloves that may normally be used for hunting may be worn.

Equipment as defined in the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program Guide may be used for the qualification being earned.

 

LEAGUE REGISTRATION FEE: The league fee is $35 for D.S.C. members. This will allow a member to participate in all D.S.C. Rifle leagues.  The league fee for Associate members will be $50 and will be good for one rifle league ONLY.  The League fee includes the Committee Banquet. Extra tickets for the Banquet will be available for an additional $15 each.

 

TARGET FEES:  Targets are $5.00 each for members and $15.00 each for associate members.  A competitor shooting more then one target for score per day will pay the appropriate fee for each target.  A competitor using his own target (can be used for practice only) will pay the usual rifle range fee.

 

PRIZES:        A Certificate will be awarded for Grand Champion, First and Second places in a Lewis class system based on aggregate score. The total number of competitors will determine the number of Lewis classes (minimum of 5 competitors per class). An award will also be given for the highest individual score.

A full ten League targets must be shot for scores to qualify for any award.

 

CHALLENGES AND EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTIONS:         MUCC State Shoot Rules apply in the event of any crossfire's or equipment malfunctions. The NRA Sporting Rifle Rulebook is the authority. Decisions of the Range Officer or the Sporting Rifle Sub-Committee Member on duty. are finial. Challenges must be made on the day the target is shot before league shooting ends for the day.
