The Detroit Sportsmen’s Congress has archery based activities to fit most every one’s interests. Archery has been a part of DSC since 1948 and will always be a part of our future. Whether your interests lay in casual shooting, serious competition, or practice shooting prior to hunting season, we have a facility for you.


Our Archery facility consists of:

Outdoor PAA Range - ten targets ranging from 20 to 65 yards

20 - Yard practice range - six positions with two broadhead pits

30 target 3D course - variable distances over a wooded and uneven setting

30 target broadhead course - fall league use only

3D shoots are open every weekend starting in April, please call the office to check for opening times and dates.

Archery activities:

3D Spring League (click for more information) – Eight weeks of 3D Competition with handicap scoring. The league starts the third Monday in April and runs until the second week of June. Limited to 40 two-person teams. BBQ “Pot Luck” Banquet w/prizes for all .

Stickbow/Traditional League – Eight weeks of outdoor 3D animal shooting with a handicap format. Beginners and the seasoned archer are welcome along with anyone at any level in between. No sights or mechanical aids are allowed – all arrow materials can be utilized. One-on-one competition with plaques presented to the top finishers. A BBQ banquet at the completion of the league.

Fall 3D/Broad Head Combination League– Archers “Choice” format. Eight weeks of archery practice at the right time (July-September) Three courses to shoot – Regular 3D with standard points or cardboard silhouette for those that want to shoot their broadheads. No Trophies or awards – shooting & scoring just for fun. Banquet with prizes for all teams.

OTHER ARCHERY ACTIVITIES:

Weekend 3D open shooting (Regular 3D Opens Saturday, April 24th) – Open every weekend (with exceptions for holidays) from late April until the last weekend before opening day of Archery Deer Season.

Archery 3D Range will be open Wednesday evenings 4pm - dark starting on September 2

“Iron Man” Archery Shoot – (members only) Last event of each year before closing for deer season. Traveling trophy awarded to the highest score.

International Bow Hunter Education Program – Currently holding one class each year in the spring. THIS CLASS IS REQUIRED FOR SEVERAL OUT-OF STATE & CANADIAN ARCHERY HUNTING LICENSES. Check before you book your trip. We can help.

Beginner Archery Instruction – A six week class to allow those that would like to learn the fundamentals of archery. Class begins in June, with focus on basics and safety. Open to all ages as long as there is room and interest.
